In general, tourists can stay in India either on basis of business visa or Indian tourists’ visa only for a period of 6 months, regardless of the duration of Indian travel visa, which can be more than six months.
Indian travel visa is given for a period of validity of Indian passport. This fact can be elaborated with the help of an example. If a Indian passport is valid up to June 30, 2003 and Indian passport is valid up to December, 31, 2001, the applicant will not be issued 5 yrs as validity of passport is less than 5 yrs.
India Passport visa
Rules applied for India passport and India Visa are as follows:-
- One photo is to be pasted and other to be stapled on Indian visa form at specified place.
- India passport valid for a minimum of six months beyond the date of intended departure from India should accompany India visa applications.
- Foreigners of other nationalities (except the country for which applying visa), should submit long term proof (minimum three years) or permanent residency in the country (for which applying). For citizen of other countries, a reference has to be made to their country of residence for which an additional fee is applicable and will involve extra processing time. Inquires regarding status of application is not allowed during this time.

India travel visa fees are non-refundable and subject to change without notice. The rights on deciding type and duration of India visa are reserved by the High commission. The fee rendered at the time of making application does not play any role in the decision of High Commission. Granting of India tourist visa does not allow entry to India and is subjected to the discretion of the Immigration Authorities. India visa can be applied by post at the High Commission of India in London for a person. |
